Every day it seems someone says, “I am ready for 2020 to be over.”
We understand. With everything that we have experienced this year we long to focus on something positive. And, we can. Christmas is indeed coming and it can be filled with expectation! God is good and worthy of our praise. Jesus is the same, yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). As believers we set aside this season to await the celebration of Christmas, not just to anticipate the turn of a calendar in hope for something better. With Jesus, our hope remains.
Donna and I never imaged all the difficult things we would experience together when we were called into ministry over ten years ago. Job losses, health crises, and death have shaken us, but not God. Our changing circumstances have not taken Him by surprise and while there are days we both must encourage one another to stand frim in the work God has called us to complete (1 Corinthians 15:58) we praise Him for His strength to press forward.
As we continue to faithfully follow, Donna and I are planning our quiet time for Advent.
Our eyes are upward, our hearts are open, and our hands raised. This is our posture for Advent.
Will you join us? Rather than just rushing through the dates on the December calendar, hoping for a better year, will you turn your eyes toward God, open your heart to His word, and praise Him for Who is?
His character is unchanging, even when our circumstances shift like the wind.
He is a listening God, our tower of refuge. He is our Shepherd, full of love, wisdom, and forgiveness. The Giver of Eternal Life, patient and compassionate. His comfort and rest await His children. Praise the Lord! “Let everything that has breath, praise the Lord.” Psalm 150:6 NIV
As we draw near to God, we can trust His listening ear. We can be assured of His unending love. While we may be able to fathom the depth of that love, we can pour the very breath He has given us back out to Him, rejoicing, with a joyful noise.
How sweet it must be when the Savior hears our praise.
As with each of our verse by verse journeys, we want to make this as easy as 1-2-3:
- Grab your bible and follow our morning Facebook or Instagram Posts. They are posted at 6am EST. Want to take a break from social media? No problem! Print our free devotion guide. You can find it here>>>>Devotion Guide
- Consider purchasing our 25 Days of Praise Cards at https://kellyostanley.com/product/25-days-of-praise/ They will be beautiful reminders to use in your quiet time, to post around your home, or hang from a tree or garland. You can tuck them in your Bible and journal on the backs of them. Each of the 25 cards will remind you of the goodness of God, provide a scripture, and help you focus on God during this special time of year.
- Ask a friend to join you! We find that is always good to have an accountability partner.
We hope you will join us as we prepare for Christmas. We agree, 2020 has come with adversity, but we know Who holds the future in His hands.
