Yesterday I fell and hit my head hard on a door frame.

I sat on the floor, holding my head, feeling the knot developing, and I didn’t know whether to laugh, cry, or both. After collecting myself and telling the dog, the cause of my fall, who was king of the castle, I grabbed my frozen package of corn, reserved for bumps and lumps, and placed it on my head.

Yes, I have a bag of frozen corn reserved for bumps and lumps. But that is not the point of this post…I just thought you might smile.

Today, as I recollect over my mishap I am grateful.

Grateful that God woke me up.

Grateful I don’t have a headache.

Grateful for the friend that texted to check on me and my noggin.

Grateful for the bag of frozen corn, placed back in the freezer for my next mishap.

Grateful for my co-workers laughing with me about my incident.

Grateful for the dog-walker coming this evening.

Grateful for ibuprofen.

While I could focus on many other things from this painful fall, I chose to be grateful. Admittedly, it is helpful that it is November 1st and we decided that we would count blessings in hopes of developing a lasting attitude of gratitude, but more than that, this one incident has shown me how gratitude can render joy and praise to God. For that, I am truly grateful.

Will you join us this month?

Our desire?

To develop an attitude of gratitude that goes beyond a short season our culture has come to call Thanksgiving. To be women who give thanks every day in all circumstances; trusting the goodness of God and praising His name.

  • Grab a notepad. That’s all, we don’t need to make it complicated
  • Each day this week begin by writing this weeks focal verse at the top of your notepad:”Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.” Psalm 118:1
  •

Next, begin to record blessings from you day. If you have trouble because it’s a hard day, record a blessing from the past.

  •  Keep you notepad nearby so you can continually jot down things you are grateful for.

Need prayer?

Father, We thank you so much for today, whatever it may hold. It is good because we have breath. It is good because we have a good Father. We give thanks to the Lord, for he is good and His love endures forever! Forgive us when we forget to be grateful. Amen

So grateful~ Jodie
