Well, here we are ladies. The end of another week and the end of our first chapter of “The Best Yes” by Lysa Terkeurst. Jodie so beautifully led us through her “therapy session” on the need to please and shared wonderful scripture to back up Lysa’s quote “We must not confuse the command to love with the disease to please.” But tonight before I resign myself to the couch, I just wanted to share a few thoughts with you about how chapter 1 spoke to me.
We as women, I feel, are not afraid that what we choose and what we do will be bad, but more that the choices we make may not be the BEST choice we could have made. I think that life and all that we have to do can become overwhelming. But God in all His infinite wisdom, gives us just what we need…when we need it.
Psalm 61:2 says this..“From the end of the earth, I will cry to You. When my heart is OVERWHELMED, lead me to the Rock that is higher than I.”
I love this scripture. See it says this..no matter where we are in life, we should cry out to God. But especially when we are overwhelmed. Then God will lead us to the Rock…the Rock is God…which is higher than we are. See God provides the Best Yes answer for us….we cry out to God…and God leads us to Him! It’s a win win! He is the One that should overwhelm our hearts…He is the “Best Yes”. He will bring our life full circle and lead us back to Him..the Rock. He will allow us to Keep it Real!
When we have undistracted love for God, it will make our faith ring true. When we have undistracted love for God, we will be overwhelmed for Him. When we have undistracted love for God, we desire to please Him alone and not others. When we have undistracted love for God, we can Keep it Real in all the Chaos.
So as we begin chapter 2 next week, I ask that you join me in this prayer: Lord, help me to find my “best yes”. Help me to be most aware of You and less aware of me. Help me not to be rushed when it comes to following You and help me to grow stronger through your Word. Help me to make wise decisions and not be overwhelmed by them. Help me to keep You at the center of it all. Amen
Keeping it Real with you!
