All throughout December, as we anticipate the celebration of Christ’s birth, we will be opening hearts and homes to you.

Hello sweet sisters! Let’s gather together for a moment and share our hearts and homes. Three years ago that is exactly what the Lord asked me to do with my heart and home at Christmas. Open the doors, gather together and adore Jesus! Thus the beginning of our Christmas Gatherings each December. Some would call it a party…for me it’s so much more. Take a peek into my heart and home as I share from this year’s gathering.

There is a song in my heart…Oh, Come Let Us Adore Him! But wait! That is not the name of the song at all! Oh, Come All Ye Faithfull! So, with those thoughts and words we begin to prepare to invite our Faithful gals to a gathering all in an effort to adore Jesus together! In love, in friendship, in worship, in song.

My heart is open for all to come into my home!

christmas to remembr

When my home is filled with laughter and joy, my heart is filled with the same.

The invitations are presented and the prayers are lifted for God to fill this space with those that He needs to be together. It’s all about bringing together those that He would have together.

“Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before The Lord our maker, For He is our God , And we are His the people of His pasture, And the sheep of His hand.” Psalm 95:6

Let us adore Him together…there is joy in the gathering!

The gift bags proclaim the desire of my heart to fill my home with Joy!

As I sit to contemplate what I really want to share from my heart and home it’s difficult! But recalling all the Christmas traditions, those from childhood up through now, I have to say that “visiting” is a treasured Christmas tradition.

Visiting family. Visiting friends. Visiting places. Visiting!

I think of those that came to visit Christ on that very first Christmas. What did they see? Hear? Smell?

What do others see in my home? Hear? Smell? Does it remind them of Jesus?

candle

The candle in the center of the table is lit for others to see His light. We will light another candle from this one and then pass candles to all in the room as we sing carols of praise and lift our adoration to Jesus!

Tucked here and there are the reminders of Jesus’ birth, all in hopes that we will not lose focus. The Prince of Peace awaits our hearts!

ornament

The ornaments, hung with prayers, are just little reminders that His birth is the reason for our gathering.

I am a Martha, desiring to be a Mary! Or as I like to say, I have a Martha personality with a Mary heart! When I gather others in my home I love to cook. Visiting over food is the best way to visit…amen?! Come on gals…you have to admit it makes time together sweet. Early in the day the kitchen begins to smell fragrant. I am reminded of many verses as the kitchen fills with aroma:

“and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” Ephesians 5:2

“Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.” Psalm 34:8

“and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” 1 Corinthians 11:24

As the rolls are about to be placed in the oven the doorbell rings. Glasses are being filled with ice. Laughter is starting to fill the rooms as the visiting begins! Oh Lord, may the earlier prayers lifted be answered. May my home be filled with love and may all who come adore thee! It’s crowded as we join hands in two circles and pray. The love of Christ is the center of the circle…the candle pictured earlier is flaming right there in the center of the visiting. Sweet Jesus, let your light fill this home. Let it fill every heart and home. Let us make room in our hearts, as they are your home.

ladies

Oh come all ye faithful…let us adore Him! Together. Visiting. Loving. Laughing. Praying.

Yes, this is how I want to spend Christmas…all year long!

As each person leaves I see new relationships taking flight. Prayers are being lifted at the door. May the joy created in the hearts of those attending leave my space and fill the whole earth so that all may adore Him!

My heart needs Jesus. My home needs Jesus. I pray your heart and home is filled with Jesus. Visit someone today who needs Him!

From my heart and home to yours, Merry Christmas! ~ Jodie
