There was a man who was waiting for the dreaded call. He had been laid-off from work and could not find another job. The call came and the news was as bad as he had imagined. The bank was going to foreclose on his home and in 1 week he and his family would be evicted. So the man quickly began selling everything that was non-essential…lighting fixtures, toaster ovens, hot-water heater, dishwasher and even the windows and the shutters. The day the bank arrived to evict him, the man and his family was gone. The man had used the money he made to move his family to an apartment and buy groceries for a month. The banker told his wife that he kind of admired the guy.  What? Well, he did what he could do with what he had today to prepare for tomorrow. (excerpt from 52 Weeks with Jesus by James Merritt)

Do what you can with what you have today in order to prepare for tomorrow.

I have some vinyl lettering on my wall above my computer…it simply reads…Pray about everything, worry about nothing.

Pray about everything.

Worry about nothing.

Do what you can with what you have today in order to prepare for tomorrow.

Each day brings a new set of things to do, tomorrow. My work schedule has changed so I have different days to prepare for work. Justin begins FCA at the schools tomorrow which will make my mornings different than they have been the last 3 weeks. My hot water heater busted over the weekend which put me behind in the laundry to do today. Cailee has landed a role in the local theaters Christmas production and her rehearsals will begin next week. Austin is doing year round swim and has to be at practice 3 days a week. Sara will be 6 on Wednesday! Oh, I could go on and on about things that I have to do, tomorrow or the next day. But what have I done with today?

Do what you can with what you have today in order to prepare for tomorrow.

Pray about everything.

Worry about nothing.

I spent a sweet time in prayer today with the One who holds all my tomorrows. He granted me new mercies today when I awoke and sent me words…right on my wall….to speak directly to my heart.

So, I ask you ladies….what can you do with what you have today in order to prepare for tomorrow?

“Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.”  Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.  Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” As it is, you boast in your arrogant schemes. All such boasting is evil. If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.”

James 4:13-17

The writing is on the wall.
