As I was driving home from work Monday evening, a thousand things running through my mind, I heard what was being said on the radio.
Now girls, you know just as good as I do that there are times when you do not hear what is on the radio..but this moment in my day was different.
“In order to get it right on the outside, you have to have it right on the inside”…. simple concept, right? I mean, I talked about it in my last blog but God keeps bringing it back around. We are simply a reflection of what is on the inside and if we are not shining on the inside, when darkness comes we will be dark on the outside.
As I sat down on Tuesday morning to read my Bible, God just kept speaking…so allow me a few moments to share what God showed me.
Psalm 119:129-130
“Your statutes are wonderful;
therefore I obey them.
The unfolding of your words gives light;
it gives understanding to the simple.”
God’s word is wonderful. We are called to follow what it says. When we open His word, it brings forth light and even “the simple” can understand it. Lol..the “simple”…that would be me! Do you want to shine light for Jesus? Open His word and He will do the rest.
Now let’s flip to Luke 11:33-36
“No one lights a lamp and puts it in a secret place or under a bowl, but on a lampstand so the people who come in can see. Your eye is a light for the body. When your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. But when your eyes are evil, your whole body will be full of darkness. So be careful not to let the light in you become darkness. If your whole body is full of light, and none of it is dark, then you will shine bright, as when a lamp shines on you.”
So, if you open God’s word and see the Light (with your eyes) then your body will be full of that Light. Physically, when our eyes are closed, we cannot “see” light which means that our body will perceive darkness. Spiritually, when we close our eyes, the eyes of our heart, to God and all that He can do for us and to His word, then our body will become corrupt or dark.
There is not a lack of Light, but there is a lack of seeing the Light.
We must be careful to keep our “eyes” open so that we can shine. In order to get it right on the outside, we must have it right on the inside. We can do this…
It’s simple! God’s word says so.
This little LIGHT of mine…I’m gonna let it shine!
