Day 8: Braving Brave with a Yes Heart
Trusting when we don’t understand.
Continuing to pray while we hurt.
Praying brave with a yes heart can be challenging.
Are we up to the challenge? If you are struggling to say yes we want to encourage you to stay. We have a book of the bible to share with you that just may encourage your heart. It did ours.
If you are like me you may have to go to the table of contents in your bible or Google the pronunciation. That’s ok! The four chapters of Habbakuk and so worth the read. In chapter one Habakkuk pours out his concerns to God, then he listens. In chapter 2, verse 1, He commits to wait and watch for the Lord to respond to His prayers:
“I climb up to my watchtower and stand my gaurdpost. There I will wait to see what the Lord says and how he will answer my complaint.” Habakkuk 2:1
Girls who pray brave with a yes heart watch and wait for the Lord.
We listen for His answer. We trust that it will come.
We watch and we wait.
We don’t give up.
Brave prayers with a yes heart continue even when we want to give up.
Ever watch a pot of water come to a boil? It seems like it will never happen, but wait long enough and it does.
God responds to Habakkuk and instructs him to “wait patiently” (Hab. 2:3). He promises His faithfulness.
What do we do in the wait?
We trust, continue to pray, listen, and we do as Habakkuk in chapter 3, we praise. We praise God for who he is and what He has done and what he will do. We put aside doubt, fear, and disappointments and we keep our hearts positioned in yes. Yes, Lord.
In Suzanne Eller, Living Free Together book, Come With Me Devotional, she writes, “When we are in a season of waiting, let’s take our eyes off the finish line…Waiting is never wasted, and it just might be where God’s greatest work takes place in us.”
Climb up to the watchtower! Take your eyes of the situation. Take your eyes off the solution you have planned in your mind. Wait on the Lord and be of good courage.
Wait patiently. Bravely. And with a heart saying, yes, Lord.
You are so good. So worthy. So wonderful. You are always watching and waiting for us to lift our prayers. May we watch and wait for your answers. May praise slip from our lips in the wait. And Father, at the end of wait, may we each rejoice over the wonders that you are always in the business of doing. Oh Lord, keep us courageous, even in the wait.
