“It is good to praise the Lord and make music to Your name. O Most High, proclaiming Your love in the morning
and Your faithfulness at night.”
Psalm 92:1-2 NIV

I love this Psalm. It is a favorite because it is focuses on being thankful and faithful. As we approach the holiday season we tend to pick this time of year, more than any other, to pause and give thanks daily to God. In reality though, our thanking Him should be every day and in all seasons.

We can all set some time aside each day to focus on our blessings, but genuine thanks should be on our lips continuously.
My prayer time may vary from place to place, but what I want most from my time with God is to honor Him with praise and thanksgiving. I want the thankfulness that flows from my mouth to be sincere and heartfelt.
I want the thankfulness that flows from my mouth to be sincere and heartfelt.

One of the habits I formed years ago in response to a gratitude challenge was to praise God for something I am thankful for, before I go about laying out my prayers and requests to Him. I want God to know how much I love and appreciate what He does for me and in me.

I do not want every prayer to be me asking for something. I want to come into His presence to thank Him for the love and grace He extends to me daily. I want to remember that even in the midst of uncertainty I see His Light shining. He wraps me in His protection and is gracious with His provision. Things may not always work out they way I have prayed, but they do work out according to God’s Will and what is best for my life.
True gratitude is when our thank you’s come morning, noon and night.

Point of Focus
“An attitude of gratitude will carry me through life’s most difficult storms.”

1. What does this Psalm teach us about attitude and gratitude?
2. How can we honor God on a daily basis?
3. How do you give God the first few minutes of your day?

Prayer

Gracious Heavenly Father, I bow before You today and lay my difficulties and negative thoughts at Your feet. Please help me to adopt an attitude of gratitude no matter what circumstances I face. I trust You and I love You. In Jesus Name, Amen.

I’ll be praying for you.
