All of my children have wanted to play hide-n-seek with me at some point in their life. But my favorite was when they were toddlers.

“Count to 10, mommy. Then you gotta come and find me!” “1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10….Ready or not here I come! Hmm, I wonder where ____ is?” I preceded to “look” all over the house ignoring the giggles coming from my laundry basket each and every time….because as you mommies out there know – the hiding place never changed no matter how many times we played! After searching for awhile, I would finally go and get them acting so surprised they were there. “You were right here in front of me the whole time, ” I would declare. Laughs, hugs and kisses would abound and then we would do it over again. Oh, sweet memories. My kids never lost hope that I would find them. And I knew where they were all along.

I think that in the life game of hide-n-seek….we are the toddlers and God is the adult. We run and hide sometimes from God and sometimes from life…but He knows where we are all along.

You see, no matter the circumstances that we are in – God’s placement in our lives is the same. He does not have a “hiding spot”.

“Am I a God at hand, declares the Lord, and not a God far away? Can a man hide himself in secret places so that I cannot see him? declares the Lord. Do I not fill heaven and earth? declares the Lord.” Jeremiah 23:23-24

No matter how good or bad life is at the moment – God is right where He promised to be. He is never “surprised” about anything.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9

Even when we feel like we cannot find God – He will be right there with us the entire time. We have hope in His love.

“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:28-29

And one day, when He comes again…there will be laughter, praise, and love abounding for we will be with Him in heaven.

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.” John 10:27-30

Lifting praise to the One who will always find me and you!
