We ladies like to talk, right!?
Well, I know that I do. I often tell people I was in trouble from the time I was born for talking too much. My best friends tune me out!Momma didn’t have to teach me to talk, she had to teach me to listen. Honestly, I’m still tuning my listening skills.
Do you love a good listener? I think we all do. We desire a good listener to sound off to when we are excited, when we are angry, when we are disappointed, when we are happy, when we are confused, when we are frightened. Just about anytime. Our hearts feel comforted when we are in the presence of a listener.
Listeners are not always easy to find. But can I share something with you girls? The ultimate Guy, who listens and cares about what you are saying is available! Available to you and to me. He anxiously awaits our call and He’s ready and willing to listen while we laugh, while we cry, while we hash out our anger or our fears. His name is Jesus. The friend that waits and wants to hear your heart.
“The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them”
So girls like me who love to talk and need a steady ear to hear their heart, turn you voice and lift if upward to your friend Jesus. His ear is attentive. His heart is compassionate. His response is trustworthy. Talk with Him about all your cares and concerns; your likes and dislikes; your joys and pains. And trust Him to listen and respond.
Recently, I was overly concerned about a serious matter. Uncertainty, fear and worry were creeping into my heart. My normal response would be to share with my good friends and my prayer circles even before I would turn and talk to Jesus. Something inside me kept drawing me to conversations with Jesus. And each day I found that good listener was quiet only when I needed Him to be and then responsive at just the right times. Each question I had was answered with scripture and each doubt I wanted to give into was covered in peace from His presence. The more time I spent turning and talking to Jesus the more I was able to trust the promises found in His response. His words became my solid foundation when fears wanted to creep back into my mind. When the time came to share with friends and prayer groups I was able to share HIS response and HIS hope! Unclouded, uncluttered and strengthened by HIS goodness.
“Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.”
Helen H. Lemmel
“Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” 1 Peter 5:7
“Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.” Psalm 55:77
“Trust in the LORD forever, For in GOD the LORD, we have an everlasting Rock.” Isaiah 26:4
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6
Today, I’m reminding myself where to take my talk. Reminding my talkative lips to slow down and take time to turn upward, talk outward with Jesus and trust His never-failing response! He’s the friend that listens, cares and responds to each of us!
