God has been speaking to my heart about something already so dear to me. Drumroll please…..Relationships.

Oh no, I just lost a few people.

Hold on, wait. I know. Relationships can be tough. Truth be told on certain days I will run down the wrong isle of Walmart to avoid speaking. My “fear gear” kicks in sometime! Bet ya didn’t know that tidbit!

But girls, relationships can also be sweet! Being interconnected with others can be a treasure! One that leads to laughter, memories and yes, sometimes tears. However, tears are not always bad, let’s remember that!

Recently, through studying Genesis with my P31 First5 App and with my small group, God keeps impressing the word “relationship” into my heart.Just yesterday He continually brought to mind someone’s name and finally I listened and reached out to build a new relationship. Ok, God, I can do this!?!

Two are better than one was ringing in my ears!

together

And the very person I reached out to needed prayer. She needed help to feel the strength of God in a courageous endeavor.

Relationship is sweet and brings strength.

God created relationship. Thus I trust in it’s goodness. In verse 26 of Genesis I see that God was always in relationship.

Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness …

US. OUR. God had relationship with His Son and His Spirit. A family.

On day 6 of creation God creates man and the relationship of man and Creator begins. An intimate relationship; one that required touch and breathe. God loves and He desires our love…relationship. And after man was created God observes and for the first time declares something is not good.

“The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” Genesis 2:18

Man without relationship is not good. Man alone is lacking something. And God’s gift and plan was woman. The beginning of man’s family.

Girls, relationships don’t come easy for me. I struggle and always have. I could list the things I’ve worked through and the list would take too much space. I could dwell on all the relationships I have caused conflict within and tell you how many I have broken or have broken me. But gratefully, I say:

Relationships are valuable.

Relationships are meaningful.

Relationships are purposeful.

Relationships were designed by God.

We were made for relationships!

relationships

So why are we seeing so much dissention in the world?

Why are our families falling apart?

Why are people hating people?

I don’t have all the answers but I do have God. Achieving sweet relationships starts with Our communion with The Creator! Knowing His heart, trusting His plan, receiving His love and then offering it to others.

Colossians 3:12-14 has long been a favorite set of scriptures. Reading that we are chosen and dearly loved has been a source of encouragement and a treasure for the heart.

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

Furthermore, it spurs me toward the instruction found within these verses. Clothing ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience and offering forgiveness and love for the sole purpose of perfect unity. Relationship like this starts with our relationship in Christ!

How sweet it is to the very One who created us for relationship to see us as brothers and sisters together is unity. In beautiful relationship!

unity

Does it come easily? Not always.

Can it be sweet? Yes. Everything is sweeter with Jesus!

Even relationship!

Always enjoying our time together ~Jodie
