There would have been a time that I would have thought you were asking me about appetizers. And I would gladly come over to taste! Now “apps” has taken on a whole new meaning and there seems to be an app for everything.
One day we were working out and we heard water bubbles. It was an app to let someone know when to drink their water!
Another time we were in a prayer circle and we heard a catchy song keep coming and going. It was an app to remind someone to eat.
Now I can pretty much say that I am into eating and drinking without prompt. But it just goes to show that there is an app for just about anything. Last week Proverbs 31 went live with their “First 5” app ( http://first5.org/ ). You can totally download it for free and set the alarm time for your preference and it will awaken you and prompt you to spend time reading God’s word!
Now I’m into that kind of app!
Yes, it took a little instruction from my daughter the first time but I can download an app! And this First 5 app is a tasty appetizer! It stimulates my hunger for God’s word and makes me want more.
P31 describes it on their website as
The App that will transform your time with God
Today I just wanted to take a minute to give P31 a shout out on their new app! To say thank you for making one that shares God’s word with the world. And to top it off…it’s completely free! (We like that around here)
The app starts in the book of John and I am enjoying a beautiful “Jesus Journey” each morning. This morning two verses stuck with me and have me in a prayerful state of mind. Our world needs more light! Less darkness! Light that gives life!
“…Go and sin no more.” John 8:11
“Then Jesus spoke to them again saying, ‘I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.’ ” John 8:12
I’m hungry to know more and to see how He will use these words to speak to my heart today. This is a good hunger.
It’s just a suggestion, but if you need a good app, one that will stimulate your appetite for God and His word I suggest you take 5 minutes to download First 5! Then simply set your alarm and enjoy a feast!
