Yesterday, I lit a candle.
It’s a little thing that brings a smile to my face. A candle burning in the kitchen. Smelling sweet. Providing a warm glow. It says welcome, rest, relax. It’s a little thing that makes me smile.
When I’m reading of others being crushed under rubble, homes being destroyed, people hating people…I look intently for things that bring a smile and then I give thanks.
Just a burning candle is enough to remind me to smile and give thanks. So often I overlook the small blessings abounding right in front of me.
Blessings are all around us and enough for us:
- To smile and give thanks for a God who loves.
- To trust a God who cares and binds our brokenness.
- To know that He has the whole world in His hands.
- To believe that He is in control of all things.
And yet there are days when it’s hard to smile. Hard to see the enough. Hard to grasp His vast love and that with Him we have enough. I race right by the candle. I rush right past my family. I overlook that friend God placed in my path. I underestimate His love. I forget that He is indeed enough and that He provided for all we need.
“And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.” 2 Cor. 9:8
God generously provides…
Enough to make it through a long work week.
Enough to make it past a crisis.
Enough to make it through bad news.
Enough to share with others.
Enough to fill us when we feel empty.
Enough when we feel small.
Enough to heal the brokenhearted.
Enough for us to overcome our weaknesses.
With God there is always enough, we are always enough simply because HE is enough!
When I blew out the candle last night I remembered that God is enough…more than enough. And I give thanks!
When I’m reading of others being crushed under rubble, homes being destroyed, people hating people…I look intently for things that bring a smile and then I gave thanks.
Blessings friends, Jodie
