It is coming quickly.
The time of year when I find it necessary to purge toys from my kids rooms, in order to make room for new ones.
Now, the actual purging must be done in secret…but it brings much peace to this momma’s heart to not have to jam one more thing in those rooms after Santa has come to town. First world problems.
But, it is a good example to start talking about Chapter 8 of Lysa Terkeurst’s book “The Best Yes”: Consider the Trade.
If we want to make “Best Yes” decisions then we have to make room for that decision first. If we try to cram one more than in an already full soul then we will walk away broken instead of with God’s perfect peace.
Let’s talk about another example. I recently had to stop leading the youth praise team at church. Upon searching, I realized that when I added this onto my schedule that I became overwhelmed. Not immediately. It went well the first year. I had prayed about it and knew that God was leading me to lead this team. But during the second year, God woke me up and I realized that I was leading the team for all the wrong reasons and that God was not receiving the glory that He deserved, plus I had let nothing else go from my already busy schedule and I was frazzled!
A good decision but without the trade = a broken spirit and a lack of doing all things for God’s glory.
I am learning quickly through this book that the “yes” decisions that I am faced with more often than not are both “good” decisions..but perhaps one may not be worth choosing in the long run. Remember, oftentimes in life we have a best choice but then there is a better choice. We have to make sure that the trade off results in the better choice. And then sometimes the answer just needs to be “no”..but we will get to that real soon….
Can we go back to Colossians 3:15-17 – Remember our theme verses for our session “Keepin’ it Real”?
“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do,whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
See…we first must have peace.
Release = Peace
So…. that God can truly dwell in us each and everyday.
God’s word = The Best Yes
And then….we will bring Glory to God through word and deed.
Glory to God = 1 Corinthians 10:31 = Faithfully Fit!
Consider the trade, ladies and then let your release bring peace.
Let’s all get ready for that upcoming purge!
