Sometime we just have to hold on!

This past week was one of those weeks.

News came of tragedy and my heart sank. It even felt like it stopped a moment as I ached inside. My mind raced with questions and thoughts and in an instance I knew I had to hold onto what I trust.

I trust that God is good.

I trust that His word is true!

I trust that He loves me and those I love!

I trust that God has a plan I can not see!

Holding onto that led my heart and mind to peace and comfort.

But before the peace there was a cry.

I cried out to God for help. I did not know what was ahead but I knew I must trust the One who has gone before us.

“The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart.” Psalm 34:17-18

Just last week I wrote that we live in a lost and dying world. It really is no secret. But we are not meant to live defeated! We are not meant to just survive.

Hold on tight.

The road ahead is not always appealing. We do not always know what lies ahead, but we are to trust and have faith in things that are not seen, but promised.

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 2:7

We are promised that all things will work together for the good of those who love the Lord. (Romans 8:28)

Hold onto that.

We are promised Jesus has gone before us to prepare a place. (John 14:2)

Hold onto that.

We are promised the Spirit is here with us. (2 Cor. 5:5)

Hold onto that.

We are promised a home in heaven. (2 Cor. 5:1)

Hold onto that.

Last week when I felt crushed, perplexed and in despair I knew that I would not be forsaken. I was not alone. Jesus was right there beside me, walking through the darkness, keeping a light lit to guide me. His light was the Word of God. My prayers were followed by His peace that surpassed all else.

Hold on.

Hold on tight.

Hold on when you hurt, hold on when you are frightened, hold on when all things look uncertain and all things seem dark.

“Trust in The Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6

Hold on to what you know is true. Hold on the the love of Jesus!
