Rounding turn one on the bike course during my first triathlon was nerve-wracking! There was sand on the course competing with the thin wheels of my road bike and I could feel my hands tightening around the handle grips preparing for a wipeout.

In that moment, during that split second, I whispered, “run the race, keep the pace, keep your eyes on Jesus.” It’s my summary for Hebrews 12:1-2 and I often recite it as motivation during training to remind myself who to focus on when pressing forward in the hard. That spilt second when I thought my face was about ready to meet gravel was hard. Knowing that verse and being able to call on it in a time of need allowed me to stay upright in a scary situation.

That was over ten years ago and I continue to use those verses to help me press forward during struggles or to help me overcome my fears.

God’s Word has the power to change our perspective when we embrace its truth for ourselves.

Do you have a verse in the Bible that you go-to when you feel uncertain? afraid? worried? hopeless? or pulled at by the world? What perspective do you need God to change?
Do you have a verse in the Bible that you go-to when you feel uncertain? afraid? worried? hopeless? or pulled at by the world?

Hebrews 12:1-2 is just one of many “go-to” verses I quote to engage the power of God’s Word in my life. There is also 1 Corinthians 15:58, that I shout out when obstacles arise in areas where God has called me to serve and I feel challenged. Song of Solomon 4:7 is what I whisper when the lies of the world are making me think less of myself and Romans 8:11 is fast becoming the verse I declare when I want to remember the Power of the Spirit is within me!

God’s word walks me through life, drives me through storms, and lifts me from valleys to mountaintops.

Embracing God’s Word as active truth changed my life and it can change yours also!
