Have you ever really wanted something that you couldn’t have? I mean REALLY wanted something that you knew was off limits? But for whatever reason someone else tells you that the reason you can’t have it is because they don’t want you to have it? That it is off limits to you BUT everything else is available?
Well in the book of Genesis, we find Eve with the serpent who is feeding her lies and making her question God’s commands. Genesis 3:4-5 says “Then the serpent said to the woman, You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
Basically Satan says: God does not want you to eat of the fruit of the tree because He has something He does not want you to have….. BUT Satan is a liar. God wants to give you the world!
God does not withhold anything….. we withhold God.
We take God’s promises and blessings and twist them all around to meet our needs and then say that God did not give us all that we “wanted.”
We take those things that God warns us against and then we blame Him for not stopping bad things from happening when we do them.
We petition and pray to God to give us the world and when He does we say that it is not “fun” to follow Him…that there are too many rules.
God does not withhold anything….we withhold God.
2 Peter 1:3 says: “His divine power has given us EVERYTHING we need for a godly life through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness.”
He is a sweet God who offers us the same power that He gave Jesus….. who healed the sick and then was raised from the dead.
Romans 8:32 says: “He who did not spare his own Son, but gave Him up for us all–how will He not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things?”
He is a sweet God who sent His son to die for His enemies….why would He do less for His children? He grants us whatever is necessary to complete the purpose He has in choosing us to live for Him!
God does not withhold anything….He gives us the world!
I leave you with this…my life verse….Romans 8:31, 37-39
“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.
And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
