As we sat in a circle surrounded by a beautiful group of women, the familiar ring of heartbreak and sadness rang out. Cancer is running rampant, death is prevalent,  children need prayer, and marriages are being challenged.  All that is wrong with the world seemed to prevail.

But amongst the heartbreak a praise rang out loud and clear…..”my husband and I were baptized last night….together.” Applause erupted. And then the tone of the circle changed, as others began to share a little of what is right in the world.

We are bombarded with the negative it seems. The headlines are full of tragedy. Death is all around us. People are being divided. Our upcoming election seems a farce. Sickness is multiplying. All that is wrong with the world seems to prevail.

But so does God!
As followers of Christ sometimes we need to step back, out of the darkness of the world in to God’s light and share a little of what is right in the world.

Won’t you join me?
Watching a 6-year old profess her belief in Jesus and sharing that with the world through baptism….that’s what is right with the world!
Romans 10:9 “If you declare with your mouth that ‘Jesus is Lord’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Talking to a 78-year old woman who found love again after the death of her husband, like she is a school-girl first in love…..that’s what is right with the world!
1 John 4:8 “Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.”

Laughing with your kids on the way to school as they “voice-over” what your cat is saying as you drive away….that’s what is right with the world!
Psalm 126:2 “Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with sounds of joy.”

Seeing posts of good memories following the death of a pastor, a daddy, a pop, and a husband far too soon…..that’s what is right with the world!
2 Corinthians 12:10 “For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions and calamities. For when I am weak then I am strong.”

For all that is wrong with the world, Jesus is right for the world!

Today, when it seems that life is bearing down hard on you, remember that you are not alone. “Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face, and the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace.”
