Confession time! I am a terrible poker player.

Ok, so I do not play poker that often, truth be told I think I was in college the last time I played and I lost all my popcorn! Poker does require some amount of skill. And well, I have a terrible poker face. No matter how hard I try, you can tell exactly what cards I am holding by the expression on my face.

But I have another confession. There are times when you can tell exactly what I am thinking about something, or worse someone, by the expression on my face. I am like the little girl in the commercial whose milk leaked on her sandwich….there is just no hiding how I feel. So what’s a girl to do?

Scripture says this: “As the face is reflected in water, so the heart reflects the real person.”  Proverbs 27:19

We must carefully watch what is being reflected, comparing that to the Word of God.

My face needs to reflect His heart. My heart needs to reflect His face.

Scripture also says this: “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace.” Numbers 6:24-26

My face……His heart. My heart……His face.

* a heart that smiles the love of a Father

* a cheerful soul that mercifully forgives

* a joyful word that consoles the heart

* a smile that offers acceptance despite our failures

Lord, let them see You in me…..Your heart, Your face. Amen.
