I’m expecting!
Come now, it’s not what you think…my hubby would fall out on the floor if there was a baby on the way. We have two teenagers!
I’m expecting God to do big things!
To answer prayers in big ways!
“He is able to do more that we ever ask or imagine!” Ephesians 3:20 (emphasis mine)
Recently, I wrote my name and one word on a card that went into a friends hand and she commenced to pray over me and that word. Truthfully girls, I didn’t even know why I picked the word ~ FIRE. It just flowed out and onto the card.
There it was. On the card. And in her hands and straight into her prayers. (It’s awesome to have praying friends, just saying.)
Throughout the next week she sent me scriptures, thoughts and pictures, everything about this word FIRE. I knew she was praying and I was still wondering why I choose the word fire.
Perplexed, I had to wonder, “What is God up to?”.
Then I noticed.
God began to show off!
Girls, I was not expecting anything. And wow, He corrected my heart vision.
Repeatedly over the next 10 days after writing on that card God was speaking, through His Word and through others who knew nothing about my little card and my little word.
I now understand what the word, FIRE, was all about. I steeped into my jeep one morning and asked myself, Lord, I know you want me to be hot for you, but why? And this song was playing on the radio:
God, I’m running for Your heart

Lord, I’m longing for Your ways
I’m waiting for the day…

Thinking out loud, I said, Lord, I know. But why?
I’m certain you want me to desire you above all other things. But why?
And in those soft places He answered, “Because when you are on fire from my love; when you are in hot pursuit of my love, the best I have to give is waiting there for you”!
I’m expecting! Expecting God to do big things in response to prayer! It’s good to expect great things from our Big God. My great expectations are leading to trust:
- I trust that when we are women on our knees God is standing up for us!
- I trust that when we are praying He is listening!
- I trust that when we come to Him great things will be given!
I’m expecting, hope you are too!

Love that whole album from Third Day… but more than that, I love how God shows up and loves on us at our most unsure! On fire for Him is that really open place to be, expecting Him to do far beyond what we think or imagine… wow. Great words for today, Jodie!!! hugs!
